Active Shooter Events in Schools and Universities
The following section will present data regarding active shooting events that took place in schools and universities. The data is based on active shooting events that occurred in the United States between 2000 and 2015. ALERRT and the FBI identified 44 active shooter events (ASE's) between 2000 and 2015.
The button options on the right include information on the recorded school active shootings by the characteristics of the events, the victims, active shooters, and the resolution.
The "Event" button details data regarding the characteristics of the events that took place in school locations. These locations include elementary schools, middle and high schools, and university level educational environments.
The "Victim" button provides data on the characteristics of the victims of school active shooter events. There were a total of 268 people shot out of the 44 school active shooter events that took place, and out of 268 individuals shot, 132 people died.
The "Shooter" button presents data regarding the characteristics of school active shooters. An active shooter is an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a populated area.
The "Resolution" button presents data regarding the types of resolutions/conclusions of the active shooting events that took place in school locations.
The button option "Event Summaries," provides details on each event that took place within a school location.
